Is Beauty Defined by Botox?
Beauty is not winning the genetic lottery. It's not smoothing your fine lines and wrinkles. Beauty is the way you treat others. The way you treat yourself. The way you live your life.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a sucker for Botox every now and again…
But especially after years of being so intertwined in the fitness industry, with so much focus on how we look, I’ve found comfort in growing older.
Age has allowed me to:
Give far fewer f*!#s, to put it bluntly.
Understand that there is so much more to life than material things, the way we look, and our social status.
Our insides are far more important than our outsides. Health will always trump aesthetics. Personality, soul and spirit are more attractive than perfect skin or piercing blue eyes.
Society has conditioned us to always want to fit in. And it does feel nice to be complimented on appearance, desired, groomed. But it feels even nicer to know you are living your truth, working on improving your mind, your heart, your relationship with yourself and with others.
Beauty fades, and if we haven’t been keeping up with our inner beauty the way we keep up with our hair, nails, fashion… then what will we have left?
This is a reminder to me, just as much as it is a message to you.
Must. Break. Society's. Conditioning!
