Don't Believe Everything You See on Social Media
I posted this caption on my Insta the other morning as a reminder to self, and it was such a hit.
It’s so important not to believe everything you see on social media.
The other week I had a friend come to me feeling like they weren’t doing enough. Between a full-time job, a new house, kids, dogs, a partner, friends, hobbies, he was being hard on himself for not finding time to go to the gym more, eat healthy 24/7, and do alllll the things.
“But I see people do it on YouTube!”
The stuff we see online is somebody’s highlights. We know this already, yet it’s still hard to always remember or to give ourselves credit for all the things we ARE doing, all without comparison to somebody else.
Take me, for example.
I know whole heartedly that my PCOS Made Manageable program is going to be fantastic.
It's set to launch December 15th (woohoo!!! 🥳) and it’s going to work.
And even unfinished, it's already something I’m beyond proud to share with the world.
But I have days where I’m terrified.
What if nobody cares?
What if I have zero clients?
I’ll have no money, I’ll have to move out of (expensive af) California, I’ll die! lol.
So many limiting beliefs and negative thoughts. And where do they come from?
My IG following goes does.
Someone unsubscribed from my email list.
Someone comments something dumb.
I see someone else on the internet killing it and think, “I should do better.”
In these moments it’s so easy to want to just quit. F it.
The other day I chatted with ChatGPT for 20 minutes about moving to Panama to live the simplest, slowest life.
But then I remembered that we have the ability to simplify and slow down in every moment.
A pause.
A breath.
A reminder that life is all about figuring it out as we go.
About making mistakes.
About sharing our gifts and talents with the world.
And exploring ourselves and the things that bring us joy.
It’s not about giving a 10/10 A+ performance 24/7.
We can hold ourselves to a higher standard, learning and evolving, overcoming challenges and growing into our best versions while being kind, gentle and proud of where we are along the way.
Everyone has their story.
And it’s not always what you see on social media.
Please take a second to celebrate how far you've come and all of the things you ARE doing, not just the things you think you "should" be doing better.
